Tattoo schools can teach the basics, but many people leave without the ongoing guidance or support they need. At the same time, a traditional unpaid apprenticeship simply is not viable for everyone.
Matt’s mentoring meets that gap with practical, professional guidance tailored to your current ability, goals and financial situation. You will work in a focused learning environment where honest feedback, clear advice and individual support come first.

For more than 23 years, Matt Drury has dedicated his career to creating bespoke tattoos that are as individual as the people who wear them. A multi award-winning tattoo artist, Matt has built a reputation for exceptional craftsmanship, meticulous attention to detail and artwork designed to stand the test of time.
Having owned successful private studios and managed busy tattoo studios with teams of up to nine artists, his experience spans every aspect of the industry. Now working from his own private studio, Matt Drury Tattoos in Newbury Berkshire, Matt offers a relaxed, professional environment where clients can enjoy a truly personal tattoo experience.
Whether you’re planning your very first tattoo or adding to an existing collection, every design is approached with the same commitment to quality, creativity and precision. From initial consultation through to the finished piece, Matt works closely with every client to create custom artwork that is unique, meaningful and expertly crafted.

MENTORING OPTIONS
Choose the support that suits you
One-to-one mentoring
Dedicated time with Matt, built completely around your experience, work and goals.
Sessions can be booked from one day up to one week at a time. Book a single session, return when you need further direction, or arrange a block of sessions for more sustained development.
Small-group mentoring
An intensive and supportive learning environment with a maximum of five people.
Small-group mentoring starts from two days, giving everyone time for meaningful feedback, practical learning and individual attention.
FaceTime check-ins
Optional FaceTime check-ins can provide continued accountability and guidance between in-person sessions. Availability and the right level of follow-up can be discussed as part of your application.

IMPORTANT TO KNOW
Clear expectations from the start
This is not a tattoo school and it is not an apprenticeship. It is paid professional mentoring.
If you cannot draw, this is not the right programme for you. Mentoring is intended for people who already have an artistic foundation and are ready to develop it further.
There is no certificate at the end. The value is in the skills, knowledge, honest feedback and direction you take forward into your work.
HOW IT WORKS

Include links to your drawings, portfolio and tattoo work so Matt can understand your current level and whether the mentoring is a good fit.
3. Plan your mentoring
If the fit is right, Matt will discuss the most useful format, length and focus for your session, along with availability and cost.
